My Closet is Serious Business

I didn't realize how serious I was about my own clothes till I moved into an apartment with two girls. I thought I would be totally fine sharing my clothes, but I was not in the slightest. I did not want other people ruining my clothes or borrowing them without asking. I take pride in my clothes especially because they are MINE. Don't get me wrong... I would love to share them every now and then for certain situations and circumstances, but most of the time they are to stay in my closet. Other than that, here is a peak inside my closet...

I recently graduated from college and will start my teaching career eventually (hopefully ASAP) so I decided that it is time I invest in some professional looking clothes. I am currently a substitute teacher so it is important that I am looking my best as well as looking appropriate for my elementary students. With that being said, fun pants or long dresses/skirts are my go-to. The first two pictures are typically what I would wear while teaching. It is also important that you are comfortable because you are not sitting down all day. The trick for elementary teachers is that you stray away from the color black. I have realized that when you dress in dark/plain clothes, your students will respond with a bad attitude and not respect you as much. When you wear brighter/happier clothes, your students feel happier and respond to you better. Yes, I am talking about putting on your best "Miss Frizzle" outfit to get your students more excited about learning especially from you. If you are to wear black, only wear a little bit of it and pair it with other brighter colors.

The third picture is an example of my fall/winter clothes. Since I live in Huntington Beach, CA, there is no snow, but rain and breeze so my go-to outfit would be a big pullover sweater with my favorite jeans. That outfit is probably my all-time favorite outfit because of the comfort level. Also stripes are my favorite not only in the fall and winter, but all year round. I am a striped shirt on the daily gal because I feel most myself in a striped shirt.

The next three outfits are my go-to's for the spring and summer time. I love some fun shorts paired with a simple top or a cute top paired with a simple pair of jean shorts/skirt. These outfits are easily able to be worn over your favorite bikini for the beach/boho look. The one outfit I have just recently been comfortable enough in my own skin to wear are two piece outfits like the pink one. They are adorable, but require a certain confidence. For example, loving what you look like in your own skin is incredibly hard, but so freeing. I have just recently seen my own self love show through, but every now and then I slip up. I will post more on that topic later...

For my shoes, I am definitely not a fancy heel girl. I cannot walk in tall heels to save my life and don't know why someone would wear them as an everyday statement. My Birkenstocks are my easy go-to shoe especially when I am going to the beach or running errands. The mules in the bottom-middle picture are the shoes that I wear when I want to spice up my outfit a little and get rid of my Birk tan. The grey slip-ons are ones that I can wear with any outfit, from simple errand-running outfits to adventures on the weekend outfits to my professional teaching outfits. These shoes can do it all.

Last, my go-to accessories are little hoop earrings, delicate necklaces, and scrunchies around my wrist, especially my mustard yellow scrunchy. Mustard yellow is my new-found love. Scrunchies are so fashionable yet so practical when working around kids, which is why I love them. I have always been a simplistic styled girl when it comes to my accessories, so dainty necklaces fit me perfectly and my boyfriend got me the cutest delicate love necklace from Tiffany&co that I wear every day of my life. My earrings range from fun tassel earrings to hoop earrings to plain stud earrings, but it all depends on the outfit and whether I need to calm it down or spice it up.

The stores that you can find me at are Urban Outfitters, Target, Stitch and Feather, Forever 21, No Rest For Bridget, Anthropologie, and my new favorite online stores, ROOLEE, Bohme, and Hope Ave.

It is all part of being confident in YOUR OWN skin so that you feel confident in the outfits you wear. I hope I helped you understand more of what makes me more than just Annalie.

Let me know your questions/comments and what you want to hear me write about next!

Much love,

Just Annalie
